 Consonare's Mission 

Collaboration with ECSU Chorale

Consonare Choral Community is a nonprofit choral arts organization created in 2018 to build community through choral music in Connecticut.  Consonare mission is to build and cultivate community, primarily for women and children, through inclusive choral music education and performance opportunities at minimal cost, as well as engage the public in quality, collaborative, creative, and affordable choral programming.  


Consonare Choral Community Incorporated, through sponsorship of several performing ensembles (outlined below), strives to:

  • create affordable opportunities for musicians and community members to experience quality choral music

  • explore the practices of consonance and collaboration through creative choral programming

  • promote an inclusive and intergenerational atmosphere for all singers

  • nurture the creative potential of every singer through the encouragement of healthy vocal techniques and artistic excellence within the choral setting 

  • enrich the lives of a diverse population of musicians and the greater community through singing

Voices of Concinnity

Directed by Sarah Kaufold

12-voice professional chamber choir of dedicated, seasoned choral artists from diverse backgrounds. Connecticut's versatile vocal chamber ensemble illuminating the breadth and variety of choral music through innovative and artfully sung programming.

Choir Matrix

Directed by Sarah Kaufold

An adult community ensemble open to all soprano and alto singers (ages 14 and up) with no audition, devoted to empowering and building community among womxn in northeastern Connecticut through choral music.  Offered Fall and Winter sessions.

Consonare Youth Chorus

Directed by Grace Carver

A vibrant singing opportunity for young singers ages 6-13 years old with a focus on improving vocal skills and confidence singing. Rehearses at the same time and location as Choir Matrix. Offered Fall, Winter, and Spring Sessions.

Consonare Community Choir

Directed by Sarah Kaufold

An adult community ensemble open to all voice types with no audition, devoted to collaborating with other music ensembles and offering an accessible rehearsal schedule.  Offered Spring session.
